What is the role of cooking and cuisine in the making of Chinese-American culture and identity? Inspired by our exhibition, Interior Lives: Contemporary Photographs of Chinese New Yorkers, Jack Tchen, co-founder of the Museum of Chinese in America, moderates a conversation with leading restaurateurs: Lien Lin, owner and executive chef of Brooklyn's Bricolage NYC; Wilson Tang, owner of the famed Nom Wah Tea Parlor in Manhattan's Chinatown that dates back to 1920; and Jason Wang, CEO of Xi'an Famous Foods, now a chain of 13 restaurants originally founded by Wang's father as a food stall in the Golden Mall in Flushing, Queens.

Use code, Food, for $15 tickets.

This event will feature notable friends and representatives from a variety of communities where Charles B. Wang served and supported, including Henry S. Tang, Co-founder of C-100; Fred Teng, President of America China Public Affairs Institute; and Savio Chan, U.S.-China expert.

A panel discussion with Georgia Freedman, author of Cooking South of the Clouds—Recipes and Stories from China's Yunnan Province and Simone Tong, chef of Little Tong Noodle Shop, moderated by Kian Lam Kho, author of Phoenix Claws and Jade Trees.

Celebrate the opening of the Museum’s newest exhibition, featuring intricate cut-paper art by Deborah Ugoretz. Ugoretz was already a working artist when she saw traditional Jewish paper cutting work for the first time.  She was dazzled by this centuries-old tradition and its creative possibilities for “visualizing Judaism,” and its ability to transform a simple piece of paper into a work of art that could release words into pictorial space.

School’s out, so let’s hit the streets! From the country’s very first playground to the pickle shop, each place on this tour will bring a distant world into focus.
Recommended for children ages five and up and their adult companions. Tour begins at 12 Eldridge Street.urces.
